PixelIQ read the weekend. One Diamond at home, a few worth the drive.
102 sales surfaced across Michigan this week. 59 are open Thursday through Sunday. PixelIQ — the tool we built to read every photo in every Michigan listing we can scrape — read the deepest galleries photo by photo and pulled the pieces the operators didn’t spell out, each one tied to a mark you can read in the photos.
This week’s Diamond is right in our backyard — a Grand Ledge sale hiding real art glass and an antique music box behind a three-word title. Then the Worth-the-Drives: a handful of farther sales loaded enough to earn the gas, with the finds our scouts flagged in each. The want-ad watchlist and every weekend sale follow.

Three words in the title — “art glass and fine art” — and a 308-photo catalog underneath it. This is a 40-year auction house run by a Michigan Auctioneer Commission appointee and Schroeder’s price-guide contributor, so the good pieces are in there. PixelIQ read all 308 and pulled five the title never names.
The Diamond Slate · what our scouts caught that the title didn’t name
1. Antique disc music box. The listing said: “antiques.” Our scouts caught: a burl-walnut cabinet music box with a hand crank, beveled-mirror lid, and a stack of metal playing discs — the Symphonion/Polyphon family of late-1800s players. At the door: open the lid for the maker plate, count the discs, and check the comb teeth aren’t bent — condition and disc count drive the value. 2. Gold iridescent art glass vase, Aurene style. The listing said: “art glass.” Our scouts caught: a gold lustre vase with the pulled, satiny iridescence of Steuben’s Aurene line (or a studio glassblower working in it). At the door: turn it over — Steuben Aurene is signed on the base, and studio pieces are usually signed and dated. The signature is the difference between a nice vase and a real one. 3. Bohemian oil-spot art glass vase, Loetz style. The listing said: “art glass.” Our scouts caught: a vase with the silvery oil-spot iridescence the Loetz works (Austria) made famous. At the door: Loetz is often unsigned — judge it on the decor and the quality of the iridescence, and look for any ground pontil. 4. Jack-in-the-pulpit art glass vase. The listing said: “art glass.” Our scouts caught: the trumpet-flared “JIP” form in an amethyst/red iridescent finish. At the door: check the rim for chips and the base for a signature or label. 5. Signed antique European oil painting. The listing said: “fine art.” Our scouts caught: a framed village/genre scene with age craquelure and a signature in the corner. At the door: read the signature, and check whether the canvas has been relined — both move the number.

- Carved tribal “world art” vessel — figural relief; look for old collection labels.
- Vintage sheath hunting knife with a stamped pommel and tooled sheath — read the maker stamp.
- Signed ‘Scarbrough’ pencil print + a bronzed 1950s Boy Scout Troop-175 award.

- Mid-century bamboo-motif planters + a Cooperstown Collection Yankees jacket.

A hand-carved German smoker figurine — little wooden guy, green hat, big beard — caught mid-beer, hoisting a Hofbräuhaus stein. And clipped right to him, we swear we’re not making this up: his certificate of authenticity. A tiny wooden man with paperwork for his drink. Somewhere down the line a grandkid inherits this and is going to have so. many. questions. Spotted in the Pinckney sale — and honestly? We respect him.
