Finders Weekly

a paper for the hunt — mid-Michigan estate sales

Friday, May 1, 2026 · Lansing Bureau

Editor’s Note

Morning.

Six sales we’d put on the calendar this weekend, one pick we’d haul a trailer for, and one find from a 325-photo gallery our engine wouldn’t have let us miss.

One new thing while we’re here: ◊ Diamond in the Rough. The reason this paper exists is the engine behind it, and now and then the engine spots something in a 325-photo gallery that nobody put in the listing description. We’ll surface one per issue.

Editor’s Pick of the Week

Personal Residence Final Estate Sale

Sturgis, MI · 68438 Klinger Lake Road

Fri May 1 · 9a–6p  ·  Sat May 2 · 2p–6p  ·  Sun May 3 if needed
“You buy, you haul, your liability. No early birds. All sales final.”

A family running their own sale, in their own voice. No professional pricer, no commission cut — prices reflect what the family's brother-in-law thinks the dining table is worth, not what an operator would tag it at. Cuts both ways. But the magic words are you haul, and those usually mean the curbside finds run rich.

★ Watch for

Ornate desks, china cabinet, twin bedroom outfit, recliner, dining tables. Old appliances (refrigerator, stove, washer/dryer). Old electronics — radios, typewriter. Six decades of piano/organ sheet music. Décor, ceramics, religious items.

~50 mi from Kalamazoo  ·  ~60 from Jackson  ·  ~95 from Lansing

Blowout Estate Sale — Grand Ledge

Grand Ledge · Fri May 1 · 11a–3:30p · Estate Sales and Beyond LLC

A four-and-a-half-hour fire sale. The owners' words, not ours: "lots of good items left and owners want everything gone." They didn't take new photos after last weekend's sale, so the listing is light on visuals — that's usually where the deals hide.

★ Watch for

Breyer Horses, an accordion, a grandfather clock, oil lamps, silverplate flatware, depression glass, candlewick glass, two sets of china, vintage cameras, lighthouse items, cookie jars, canning jars galore, library table.

Kat's Findz In-Person & Online — Monroe · Fri May 8 – Sun May 10
Fenton glass, Sterling silver, coins and currency, Mid-Century Modern, Victorian, Murano, Barbie, cast iron, vintage clothing. We already spotted an original Mack the Bull Dog Hood Ornament listed at $55 in the preview. Full coverage in next week's Issue Nº 2.

The scout engine that found the Nintendo in 325 photos is the reason this paper exists in the first place — same kind of pipeline gets used in industries that aren't this one. We'll be running it on every issue from here.

Issue Nº 2 lands Wednesday at 7am — full weekend, more diamonds.
